Foreshadowing

Work together to create a VERY WELL WRITTEN definition of foreshadowing. Then write down the 3 strongest examples of foreshadowing.   :)

  2. foreshadowing means an advance sign or a warning in a story or in real life. foreshadowing is in a lot of books, such as goosebumps, or harry potter, and many other books

  5. Foreshadowing is when the author gives a hint to the reader about what is going to happen later in the story. The author might use dialogues to give the hint, even the title of the story or chapter can be a clue.
    1. Like a caution sign, you drive down the road and there's a hole in the road.
    2. When Simba knew he was going to be king, but he didn't know it would be so soon.
    3. Lastly, in movies or shows it sometimes plays music and you know something bad is going to happen there's an erie sound to it, opposite with the happiness sounds. You know something happy is going to happen.

    1. Like a caution sign, when you see a caution sign as your cruising down the road. You don't know what they are warning you to stay aware of until you keep driving.
    2. Also, another example would be when you go in the morning to get coffee. You see the " warning hot" sign. But you dont know know how hot the coffee really is until you pick it up.
    3. Lastly, in movies or shows when you hear the creepy music come on. You know something bad, or scary is going to happen.

Foreshadowing is something the author uses to hint to the future but not telling it.3 strong examples are, I have a game called batman Arkham city and it hints to Mr.Freez is going to be locked in the museum and he is dying. And like when you see a bird and you run up to it it kinda runs away and that tells it is gonna fly away.Last, when someone robs a store or something you can kind of hint to he/she is going to get in trouble.

  12. Foreshadowing is when an author provides warnings of a future event that's about to happen. Books such as Goosebumps, The Candy shop War, and The Hunger Games include foreshadowing. There are also caution signs when driving, such as watching for kids or animals playing in the road.

    1) In the fairy tale, Little Red Riding Hood, the mother is concerned for her safety and that foreshadows the appearance of the big bad wolf
    2) In the opening of The Wizard of Oz, set in Kansas, the transformation of Miss Gulch into a witch on a broomstick foreshadows her reappearance as Dorothy's enemy in Oz
    3) He foreshadowed this when he said, " ...I wish we could help Joey to control herself better.

      2. There is a sign saying that there is a toll 1 mile away then later you have to stop.
      3.She foreshadowed when she said,"I will eat lunch at school."then a hour later she goes to lunch and eats

  42. Foreshadowing is when someone displays a warning or a hint of what will happen in the future. Here are three examples of foreshadowing:
    1.) An example of foreshadowing is when you are reading a book, and you find various clues (such as chapter titles and select sentences) that hint what a character might do next.
    2.) When you find a sign that says, "Duck Crossing", it foreshadows that ducks can possibly cross that area.
    3.) Finally, "grabbers" in written essays can foreshadow what the essay will be talking about.
